Nestled in the prestigious Claremont Hill precinct, this grand architectural residence sought an upgrade. The client enlisted the expertise of architect Mark Bradley to transform the property into a contemporary masterpiece, flawlessly adapting it to today's lifestyle needs.
This renovation project transformed the home by opening up the ground floor through the removal of a load-bearing brick wall, enabling an open-plan layout. Significant engineering challenges arose, which were overcome by installing heavy steel beams to support the upper walls and concealing strategically placed steel columns within the open-plan area. The timber staircase was relocated, and new jarrah flooring was laid in the southern part of the home, while the north received a concrete slab for natural stone flooring.
The stone flooring extends seamlessly to the alfresco, terrace, pool, and cabana areas, and the 10x5m pool was completely refurbished with a tiled shell to achieve a striking wet-edge appearance. The home features a Savant control system and Cbus automation, with geothermal heating used to warm the pool, stone flooring, and bathrooms, as well as supply hot water throughout the home. An operable louvre roof adds further sophistication to the alfresco area.
A harmonious blend of warm nuances characterises the space, achieved through thoughtfully selected wooden furnishings and the enduring appeal of granite.
